What is the difference between far right, radical right, extreme right, and populist parties? What ideological features do different far right actors have? How do far right parties, social movements, and sub-cultural groups mobilise? Is extreme right violence downplayed or hyped?
In this seminar, we will examine the far right as a collective actor and discuss the heterogeneous ideological features and organisational manifestations of far right political parties, social movements, and sub-cultural groups in Europe. Students will be given an insight and critically discuss some of the main scholarly debates on radical and extreme right mobilisations with a particular focus on the ideological profiles and organisational makeup of different far right actors. |
