Der Kurs widmet sich verschiedenen Formen der nominalen Klassifikation in afrikanischen Sprachen in seinen vielfältigen morphosyntaktischen und semantischen Ausprägungen. Dabei wird nicht nur grammatisches Genus als die häufigste Form nominaler Klassifikation berücksichtigt, sondern auch Phänomenen wie Numeralklassifikatoren, Possessivklassifikatoren, Prädikatsklassifikatoren usw., die in Afrika seltener sind. Die Studierenden widmen sich der Bearbeitung einer relevanten Einzelsprache und stellen ihre auf publizierten Quellen beruhenden Analyseergebnisse im Kurs vor.
The course deals with different forms of nominal classification in African languages in its various morphosyntactic and semantic reflections. It not only treats grammatical gender as the most frequent form of nominal classification but also with such phenomena as numeral classifiers, possessive classifiers, predicate classifiers etc. that are less frequent in Africa. On the basis of published sources, course participants will work on a particular language and present their results of analysis.
