Psychological processes as dynamic systems
Psychological processes such as intelligence and emotion can be thought of as growing, aging, and dynamic systems -- fluctuating and interacting through time, and measured at certain occasions by psychological researchers. We will consider how psychological theories about such systems can be examined through use of statistical models, when coupled with repeated observations from subjects across a window of time. This work can be seen as connecting with fields that have been interested in long term processes, such as developmental psychology, but also very relevant for areas that aim to understand shorter term processes, which has become more prominent with improvements in technology allowing for many repeated measurements from subjects.
