The question “what is race” has been debated throughout many (if not all) disciplines in humanity.
Nowadays, we understand that the question “is there really race” is not always productive. However,
the experiences of being raced intersect deeply and pervasively in our life. In this Q-Tutorial, we will
learn the method of autoethnography—writing about the culture from the “I” perspective—and unpack
the emotions, defenses, human relationships, and senses of identity that are so intertwined with our
experiences of being raced.
Participants of this course will design their own research project that suits their interests and conduct
the research during the semester. The requirements of obtaining credit points includes: 1) a proposal of
research design, 2) documenting research process, 3) analyzing the result and 4) final product. |
