The seminar explores the development and current institutional set-up pertaining to the European Union’s science policy, i.e. its central organisations and management practices. We will explore how different policy rationales, resources and programs have been shaped, in particular, the EU Framework Programmes, and compare these with transnational R&D organisations. The course will be based on literature (legal, political, administrative documents, as well as social/political science literature) as well as on audio/video material. Discussions can be held in German and English.
