Contemporary international criminal justice came into being in the 1990s with the establishment of two ad hoc International Criminal Tribunals by the United Nations and the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Since then, and particularly in recent years, the world has seen tectonic changes that also affect the operation of institutions working in the field of international criminal justice. This course surveys the role and challenges of international criminal justice in a changing world. Various topics will be analysed, ranging from the broad picture to specific issues.
The seminar will be held in English.
Eine mögliche Vorbesprechung für die angemeldeten Teilnehmer*innen wird gesondert rechtzeitig im Moodle-Kurs bekannt gegeben.
Participants are expected to give a presentation of about 15 to 20 minutes during the seminar. Topics will be assigned at an online session at the beginning of the semester (date and time to be confirmed). Students have the option to undertake a preliminary research project (vorausgehende Studienarbeit).
