This course provides an introduction to feminist theory with a strong emphasis on Black feminist theory, intersectionality, decolonial and indigenous feminisms. This course will explore the concept of gender as a social construct, examining its variations across different countries, focusing on varieties of feminisms within socio-political and historical contexts. Through readings, discussions, and case studies, students will gain a comprehensive framework for understanding the connections between not only Western feminisms but also colonial histories and global feminist movements that inform decolonial and indigenous feminisms. Please be aware that this course involves a significant amount of reading in English language.
