The aim of the seminar is to transform the results of field research into a story in pictures that is entertaining and understandable for a wide audience. First, participants will learn to observe details - faces, clothes, objects, interiors, landscapes - in a way that maximizes social information. Second, they will learn to convey this information in the simplest of images. Third, we will construct short stories by synthesizing text and images. All assignments will involve drawing and writing. Drawing skills are welcome, but not required. The seminar will include small homework assignments exploring various aspects of daily life. The final result will be a double-page documentary comic that each participant will draw based on their own research. In order to intensify teamwork and allow for creative freedom between meetings, the seminar will take place in the form of double sessions every two weeks.
