We will look at the history of aviation as a global and globalizing cultural product. Through case studies from Africa, Asia, South America, and the Northern Atlantic, we will look at how this global culture came about, and how it both shaped and was itself shaped by global processes. Class, Race, and Gender, both as social positions and (ascribed) identities, will take center stage in our analysis of global aviation culture.
Wir werden die Geschichte der Luftfahrt als globales und sich globalisierendes Kulturprodukt betrachten. Anhand von Fallstudien aus Afrika, Asien, Südamerika und dem Nordatlantik werden wir untersuchen, wie diese globale Kultur entstanden ist und wie sie sowohl globale Prozesse geprägt hat als auch selbst von diesen geprägt wurde. Klasse, Race und Geschlecht, sowohl als soziale Positionen als auch als (zugeschriebene) Identitäten, werden im Mittelpunkt unserer Analyse der globalen Luftfahrtkultur stehen.
