In this seminar, we address the concept of "soft power" and discuss it through the lens of cultural foreign policy. The empirical cases to look at are Manga and Anime - genres that originated in Japan and have spread globally, developing a variety of related activities that attract not only younger people's interest. Reading and writing knowledge of Japanese language is welcome, but not a condition for attending the seminar.
