Kommentar

Scientific workflow management systems are software systems that allow the specification and distributed execution of complex data analysis pipelines for large scientific data sets. A plethora of different systems exist and find application in almost all scientific disciplines, from digital humanities to high-energy physics. In this seminar, we want to explore which workflow systems are used in which scientific disciplines and whether the choice of systems actually depends on properties of a discipline. Students will research applications of workflow systems by discipline and try to generalize their findings into general statements.
