The tutorial approaches settler colonialism and environmental racism, their intersections and interdependencies as well as Indigenous environmentalism and Indigenous environmental justice. The space provided for Indigenous voices is meant to bring decolonizing approach into practice. The tutorial relies on decolonial theory, postcolonialism, environmental justice studies, and cultural studies, thus creating an interdisciplinary research frame.
The tutorial might be interesting for students from different subject areas, such as American Studies, Cultural Studies, Environmental Studies, Gender Studies, Journalist and Media Studies, Social Sciences. The tutorial is open for students on the master and bachelor level from all departments, no prior knowledge is required. Participation during the previous semester is not needed.
