This Übung is designed to introduce students to the purpose, philosophy, use, and construction of digital editions of ancient sources (including the Bible). We will focus on (1) what is a digital edition? (2) how are databases and websites of digital editions constructed and why? and (3) how can students, scholars, and teachers most effectively use digital editions? The course is valuable for students who plan a career in the academic study of the Bible or the ancient world, in which a growing number of job opportunities are related to digital editions. The course is also valuable for students who seek a career in a religious community, especially in a teaching role.
Knowledge of at least one ancient language from the ancient world is required.
The course will be taught in English, but work may be submitted in German. |
