This seminar aims to address core issues in child language acquisition in multilingual contexts, such as types of multilingualism, differences between first and bilingual/multilingual child language acquisition, and between the majority and the minority language. Aspects to be addressed also include certain contributing factors that shape multilingual children's language development (e.g. literacy and multilingual education, age of onset, quality and quantity of input, and length of exposure). The seminar will offer theoretical discussion of these issues as well as application of theory to data on the basis of current research papers on language acquisition. |
