An understanding of the basic concepts of statistics is necessary not only in data analysis, but in the design and implementation of empirical studies. This course will focus on understanding and implementing the most common statistical significance tests. Students will also learn how this understanding applies to the design and development of empirical studies.
The theoretical part of the course is complemented by practical sessions using R, a free and popular statistical software, and RStudio, a popular user interface. Using R allows for transparent data handling and flexibility, and is an invaluable skill in empirical research.
No previous knowledge or experience in statistics or programming is necessary. Lectures and materials are in English. Questions in German are of course welcomed. |
