This is a research project. The topic is about race, culture, migration, emotions, relationship and struggles. The methods are story-telling, self-reflection, open conversations, feelings and people—with an abundant support of existing literature. The starting point is "Asian"— or rather, what does it mean to be "Asian"?!*
What you will learn in this Q-tutorial: (1) how to use storytelling/autoethnography as a research method that honors different standpoints, experiences and the research participants. (2) How to use storytelling/autoethnography as a way to understand who we are, why we are like this and how we connect with others. (3) how to conduct your own research project; from formulating research questions, searching for background literature and designing research protocols, to presenting results and receiving/giving critical and constructive feedbacks in seminar, preparing for final presentation and publication.
